The Georgia Farm Bureau recently announced it is accepting applications from high school seniors, whose families are members of the organization, for scholarships that could reach up to $3,000.
The group will give $14,250 worth of scholarships to 10 students, according to a Georgia Farm Bureau news release. It said that the top three recipients will each receive $3,000 scholarships, and the remaining seven students will receive $750 scholarships. The students' parents or legal guardians must have joined Georgia Farm Bureau by Sept. 1, 2010, to be eligible for the scholarships, the organization said.
Other requirements include: The student must plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in agricultural and environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences, or a related agricultural field, and they must plan to enroll in a University System of Georgia institution, or Berry College, during the 2011-2012 school year.
The application deadline is Feb. 25, 2011, and winners will be announced in May 2011, according to the announcement from the farm bureau.
