Lovejoy Police arrested a Roswell woman, at Diamond Pawn and Gun, in Lovejoy, for the alleged robbery of the store.
Marva Alston, 30, was charged with theft by taking, according to Sgt. Michael Gaddis, of the Lovejoy Police Department.
Gaddis said that Alston, along with a male suspect, only known by the nickname "Pie," entered the pawn shop, located at 11386 Tara Blvd., and allegedly stole approximately $8,620 worth of jewelry, on Monday.
The suspects walked around for about 20 or 25 minutes, looking at DVDs and jewelry, Gaddis said. The male suspect then reached behind the counter and dumped a pile of jewelry into Alston's purse, added Gaddis.
He explained that Alston stopped midway out of the store, as the male suspect escaped with jewelry, which included 20 gold necklaces.
"The male suspect left the business and the female suspect stopped, and was detained before she was able to leave the business," he said.
A store employee observed the pair taking items, and decided to intervene, according to Gaddis. "An attendant [of the store] locked the doors, and kept everyone inside the shop until police arrived," said Gaddis.
Marva Alston is being represented by the Clayton County Circuit Public Defender, but had not been assigned an attorney as of Friday, according to the public defender's office.
Alston's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 21, according to online court documents. Clayton County Jail officials said that Alston was still in custody, on Friday. Her bond is set for $15,000, court records show.
The male suspect was still at-large, on Friday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Gaddis, the male suspect is described as a black male, about 28-30 years old, approximately 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-9, and 150-170 pounds.
He added that "Pie" was wearing a tan polo shirt, blue jeans, and a white, or tan, baseball cap, at the time of the incident.
"The suspect was riding in a blue Ford Focus," he said.
