Clayton County Police continued to search, Monday, for a 15-year-old boy, who drowned over the weekend at Clayton County International Park and Beach, in Jonesboro.
"The boy drowned after chasing a ball into the park's lake," according to police spokesperson, Capt. Tina Daniel.
According to police, the boy was at the park, Saturday, to decorate for an event. Friends tried to save the teen, but were unable to do so, said Daniel. She added that the boy was known to be a good swimmer.
Daniel explained that the police department's dive team, the Clayton County Fire Department, and the state Department of Natural Resources are conducting the search at the park.
Daniel said there is a lot of undergrowth, and weeds in the lake, because it is a natural habitat, and that has caused difficulty in the search.
On Monday evening, the teen's identity had not been publicly released.
