Jamal Watkins caught a 43-yard touchdown pass as time expired to help Dutchtown survive for a 20-14 victory over Woodland at home Friday in a Region 3A-AAAA game.
The Bulldogs (8-1, 5-1) will play next week with its first playoff appearance in school history on the line.
Dutchtown took a 14-0 lead on a 13-yard touchdown pass to Kellan Holiday in the fourth quarter before Woodland tied the game with 30 seconds left. On its final possession, Dutchtown drove to midfield with eight seconds left.
Bulldogs quarterback Wendall Long threw a pass that appeared intended for Holiday but went over him. Watkins was there to make the catch.
Long finished the game 8 of 11 passing for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Kelvin Leaphart (17 rushes, 72 yards) and Shaun Nichols Jr. (nine carries, 60 yards) led the Bulldogs rushing attack.
