Eagle's Landing Country Club today announced the 2nd annual Grassroots Classic to be held November 8, 2010.
The charity golf tournament, which will be hosted LPGA Hall of Famer and 2011 Solheim Cup captain Rosie Jones, is designed to raise awareness and funds to help Metro South Golf Charities (MSGC) search for and secure a title sponsor for the return of a Ladies' Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament to the club and Atlanta. Piedmont Healthcare is the presenting sponsor and The Regular Guys and Rock 100 are the media sponsors.
"Eagle's Landing is one of the region's top golf facilities with a proven track record as a premier LPGA tournament host," said Rosie Jones. "LPGA events have a proven impact in their host communities and I am proud to be part of an event designed to help Eagle's Landing in its quest to bring back another successful LPGA event to Atlanta." Atlanta's previous LPGA event, which was known as the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship hosted Nancy Lopez, exceeded the $7.4 million mark in cumulative contributions towards the Metro South Golf Charities.
The LPGA event was held there from 1992 – 2006. "The board and I are committed to re-establishing Eagle's Landing as a premier stop on the LPGA," said Dean Echols, Chairman of Metro South Golf Charities.
"Having previously hosted such a successful and long-standing LPGA event, we know that the significant economic and community rewards to Henry County and the greater Atlanta area are limitless."
Sponsors and participants of the 2010 Grassroots Classic will have access to the post-tournament "Unplugged at the Club" concert hosted Will Turpin of Collective Soul, receive all-day food and beverages, and attend a press conference featuring Rosie Jones and LPGA Chief Marketing Officer Jon Podany as the keynote speaker. Sponsorships include Title/Presenting ($10,000); Platinum ($5,000); Gold ($2,500); and Eagle ($1,000). Individual players can sign up for $300 each. Interested participants should contact Eagles Landing Pro Shop at (770) 389-9898, Tony Caporale at (678) 641-6816 or Jessica Mayo at (770) 310-0731.
