Public health officials are pointing to September as a time to campaign for more active living as a necessary complement to healthy eating.
This month incorporates America On the Move's national celebration, highlighting active living and healthy eating, said Hayla Hall, risk communicator with the District 4 Public Health office of the state Department of Community Health.
Hall said the celebration is marked by the non-profit organization's STEPtember Challenge, a six-week, or 42-day, challenge, in which participants receive daily tips on nutrition and physical activity that will assist in small, lifestyle changes.
Hall noted that, by participating in the "STEPtember Challenge," individuals will have access to America On the Move's free online resources.
Participants can also track their activity to determine progress on the organization's web site, at www.americaonthemove.org.
