A six-month narcotics investigation by Henry County Police resulted in a pair of arrests on drug and weapons charges.

Authorities reportedly seized more than $170,000 worth of drugs, as well as numerous shotguns and rifles.

Narcotics agents executed a search warrant Friday, at 227 Thornewood Lane, in McDonough, according to Henry Police Sgt. Robert Savage. He said the raid was the culmination of an undercover investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs.

"Agents seized approximately 38 pounds of marijuana, 26 Phenteramine pills ..., one AK-47 assault rifle, two [other] rifles, two shotguns, and seven handguns, as evidence in the investigation," Savage said.

The street value of the drugs that were confiscated by police is about $173,000, according to Savage.

Agents arrested Fidel Ochoa-Garcia, 27, of Hampton, and Jorge Lopez, 20, of Fontana, Calif.

"Both subjects are charged with trafficking marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony," Savage said. "Ochoa-Garcia was also charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance," said Savage. "The suspected ecstasy is awaiting chemical testing before charges are [actually] filed on that substance," he said. "Federal firearms charges are expected."

Lopez and Ochoa-Garcia were being held Friday in the Henry County Jail.
