Robbery suspect allegedly caught in the act

On Tuesday, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit stopped an armed-robbery-in-progress at the intersection of Old Dixie Highway and Holiday Boulevard, in Forest Park, according to Clayton County Sheriff's Deputy Alicia Parkes, the agency's public information officer.

Parkes said that a fugitive unit team member was traveling southbound on Old Dixie Highway, and observed a green Honda Civic occupied by a black male, who was later identified as Ivan Victor Allen, Jr., 26.

The deputy saw Allen pull into a vacant lot at the corner of Old Dixie Highway and Holiday Boulevard, then observed Allen get out of his vehicle and stop two people, Brandon Paytee and Si'mone Johnson, Parkes said.

She added that "investigators then went to assess the interaction and when they approached the scene, they observed the Ivan Allen subject hand a cell phone back to one of the subjects."

According to Parkes, Allen allegedly stole Paytee's and Johnson's cell phones and five dollars in cash. She said that Allen pulled out the chrome part of a ratchet [wrench], so it could appear to be a gun. The chrome ratchet was located in Allen's right front pocket, Parkes explained.

Allen was placed into custody and transported to the Clayton County Detention Facility, where he was charged with armed robbery.

His first appearance hearing was on Thursday, and he was denied bond, Parkes said.

Available court documentation did not list the name of Allen's attorney, on late Thursday.
