A former Super Bowl Champion, and a movie producer will be in Riverdale, next month, to offer words of inspiration to local residents, according to one of the lead organizers of the event.
Clayton County Public Schools, and the Chick-fil-A restaurants in the county, are teaming up to host "Desire to Inspire," which is scheduled to take place on Oct. 12, from 6:30 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., at Charles R. Drew High School. The school is located at 6237 Garden Walk Blvd., Riverdale.
The event will feature inspirational speeches by former National Football League (NFL) player, Rod Smith, and movie producer, Will Packer, said Chris Smith, the general manager of the Riverdale Chick-fil-A Dwarf House.
"We wanted to get a wide, cross section of people, at different stages in their life to attend this event," Smith said.
Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at Clayton County schools, or online, at www.itickets.com, or by telephone, at 1-800-965-9324.
Smith was a wide-receiver with the Denver Broncos for 13 years, from 1995, to 2008, and was a three-time Pro-Bowler, according to the team's web site. While he was with the Broncos, the team won Super Bowl XXXII, in 1998, and Super Bowl XXXIII, in 1999.
Packer, according to the Internet Movie Database, has produced several films and television programs since 1994, including "Takers," "Stomp the Yard," "Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming," and "This Christmas."
Smith said there will also be raffle drawings for some footballs signed by Smith, as well as a role as an extra in Packer's next film.
