Prep Roundup: Mundy's Mill baseball crushes North Clayton

Rodney Smith and Corey Harmon had three hits apiece to lead fifth-ranked Mundy's Mill to a 16-1 victory in four innings over North Clayton in a Region 4-AAAA game.

Anthony Hammonds got the win for the Tigers (12-1, 9-0 Region 4-AAAA).

Smith scored four runs and had four RBIs, while Harmon drove in two runs.

Locust Grove headed for showdown with Spalding

Locust Grove cruised to a 16-1 victory in five innings at Eagle's Landing in a Region 4-AAA baseball game Friday.

The Wildcats (10-3, 8-0 Region 4-AAA) maintained their place atop the region standings with Spalding (13-1, 8-0), setting up a showdown for first place Tuesday at Locust Grove.

Jordan Dukes was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats.

NORTHGATE 8, OLA 4: Ola committed eight errors and lost 8-4 to Northgate in a non-region game at home.

"Eight errors says it all," Ola coach Ryan Parejko said. "I don't know if we've committed that many errors ever.

"Our pitching did well," Parejko added, "but they had no defense behind them."

Ola (11-5, 6-1 Region 3A-AAAA) fell behind 4-0 in the first and never recovered. Of Northgate's eight runs, only two were earned.

McINTOSH 12, DUTCHTOWN 1: Dutchtown could only manage four hits as the Bulldogs dropped a 12-1 decision to McIntosh Friday.

Manuel Corrales and Kellan Holiday each had a double while Zach Babischkin and Jawan Agee came up with singles for the Bulldogs, who fell to 2-13 overall and 1-5 in Region 3A-AAAA.

Dutchtown will travel to Union Grove on Monday for another region game.
