• The night Clayton State made basketball history

I am amazed that there was so little coverage on the local news in Atlanta. Surely, these athletes deserve so much more attention than they are receiving from everyone in Georgia......

• Austin Road students prep for music evaluation

Ya I heard about that band there realy awsome. Me, kyle Scroggins, Steven Chamlee, Kathren Parker, And Big K think there awsome

• Gregory, Evie S.

Aunt Evie, you will be missed. You always lit up the room when you walked in and always knew how to keep us laughing. Your love for life and family is an inspiration I hope everyone who knew you will keep in their hearts. You were and always will be my "Little Leprechaun." Love, Steve

• Alleged thieves found with stolen grave vases

I would be glad to know if the thieves who stole the vases at westview cementary have been caught, I would love to have our vase returned ,Westview says they do not have insurance on them and a new one is about $150. Never in a million years ,would I have thought , human beings would steal from families ,who sacificed to buy to buy these memorials for their loved ones.

• ‘Check homeowner policies,' whistleblower urges

Great info! Where can I get the information for the correct rating at my address? Thanks.

• ‘Cut-A-Thon' for troops in Afghanistan

Thank you for your support, I am not in Afgan nor have I been (yet) but I am sure that this would help out with keep troops alive or if they were to go MIA.

• Haynie, William "Gus"

The angels were rejoicing as GUS crossed over. What a great person. He prayed with fervor and I know he will be missed.

• The night Clayton State made basketball history

Its sad that this great story is secondary news and not major headlines. This team should be celebrated for its accomplishments. If this were Georgia or Georgia Tech or even Georgia State this would be the leading story for days. In times of gangs, murders, robberies and other crimes in Clayton County why not applaud these girls and make them heroes instead of reporting all the other bad news. I for one would like to congratulate the ladies of the Clayton State womens basketball team for a great season and a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Greta job and remember you did it before Georgia or Tech.

• SWAT team raid

Wish we could be this aggressive on the burglaries killing our county>>>> The meth is valued at 5600.00 not 7000 to 10,000..... STOP THE BURGLARIES PLEASE

• Residents oppose new McDonough apartments

There are many single women and widows who live in westridge that would be terrified of their saftey if apartments are built. Also, property values have already gone down, houses in Westridge are hard to sell and recoupe the worth, do we need it to get any worst. In Henry we need jobs not apartments.

• Fans welcome home National Champs

has the paint dryed yet?

• The night Clayton State made basketball history

This newspaper writes too many stories about Clayton State College. We don't care. High School Sports is much more interesting. When is the last time a Clayton State Player went pro? Do a story on that (if it has ever happened).

• Residents oppose new McDonough apartments

The 2010 Census indicates Henry County is a vibrant growing community; emphasized the fact we have surpassed the entire Macon/Bibb County area in population and are number eight in GA. Continued growth is estimated to rise 240,000 over the next two decades. Avoiding economic and competitive pitfalls of poorly planned development is vital if Henry County is to maintain a sustainable advantage in attracting economically viable growth. Please do not make the decision to dismiss our current comprehensive, well researched, land use plans adding additional high density zoning. The responsibility of decision makers is managed development NOT mere development.

• Two Rex Mill teachers cited for ‘disorderly conduct'

I grew up and graduated for north clayton in 1981. This county has gone way down. I am embarassed to tell anyone I grew up here.

• Mobile Medical Unit comes to Butts County Nov. 15

They aren't charging what a doctor's office would charge. The fee is based on your ability to pay and not to cover their expenses in full. You don't need an appointment.

• Fans welcome home National Champs

I'm not clear why the News Daily continues to report that Clayton State is the first women's basketball program in Georgia to win a national championship, because it's simply not true. The Berry College Lady Vikings won the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) small college championship in 1976. The AIAW is the most widely recognized governing body for collegiate women's athletics prior to the NCAA. Kudos to Clayton State for this wonderful accomplishment, but please do not continue to ignore the achievements of others in your reporting.

• FirstCity Bank president, loan officer indicted

Henry Herald should investigate on exactly "who" the co-conspirators are. Should be VERY interesting indeed. Wonder if and when these co-conspirators will be named.

• Henry County, 8th most populous in state

I am glad to see Henry County being a desirable county to come to. I am surprised to see the county being educated as well. Hope to see Henry be more like Cherokee, Cobb, Fayette, Forsyth, and Gwinnett.

• Grand jury indicts Clayton Sheriff's spokesperson

Those close to the situation know the "real" truth. The problem is NOT the D.A. It is those who believe they are above the law such as Parkes and Kimbrough. Beth, wake up. If you aren't part of the solution, you are the problem.

• Alleged thieves found with stolen grave vases

how smart was it to broadcast it on tv and in the paper tho...any crooks that didn't know the value of these things...now know and it will spread like wildfire. I know it's news, but sometimes all you're doing is giving criminal minds something else to thing about doing.

• The night Clayton State made basketball history

Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. We are all proud of what you guys did as a team and also as an example on how to work together. I know you will continue to serve as role models for our community.

• Morrow residents raise questions about ‘Olde Towne'

Shame on you for being so critical. Mr. Lample was one person under the authority of voting Council members. Mistakes were made, but at least he believed in the City and County when no one else was doing anything. He initiated several parks, greenspace, subdivision markers, road signs, sidewalks, and much more working 24/7. What have you done to make the city a better place to live? Besides criticizing, how much time have you spent making a difference in the community?

• The night Clayton State made basketball history

Very nice job. We should capitalize as much as possible on great feats like this. Clayton County needed this one. Congratulations to the team!

• Clayton County web site receives national recognition

Clayton County wins this recogition most every year. Good job on the part of the IT manager who makes it happen. They should however ensure the accuracy of the information, some of it is outdated.

• Henry County, 8th most populous in state

Wow, Henry County grew so much but our tax revenue has dropped. So we have more people and less money....not good. Our schools (our CHILDREN) are suffering. I am not happy to hear about growth and no tax money.

• Longtime UPS driver recognized for safety

Wow! what a great accomplishment... 32 years of safe driving is remarkable, especially in the greater Atlanta area. I worked for a trucking company for 30 years and I really appreciate such an amazing record. I wish you many more years of safe driving.

• Residents oppose new McDonough apartments

Get ready for a fight folks. The good old boys in our county love tax revenues sometimes at any cost and it looks like Aueletta is trying to join them.He voted to put a Dollar General in front of my subdivision opposing the 2 commissioners that both know the area best and represent it.

• The night Clayton State made basketball history

Congratulations to Clayton State for an amazing season, but as a graduate of Berry College in Rome, I must point out that CSU is not the first four-year women's program in Georgia to win a title. In 1976, my alma mater claimed the "small college" championship in the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW), the most widely recognized governing body of collegiate women's athletics prior to the NCAA's sponsorship in 1982. I certainly don't want to take away from Clayton's astounding success this season, but I also don't want to see the accomplishments of another group of women who were trailblazers in their sport be forgotten. Kudos to CSU for a tremendous year!

• ‘Check homeowner policies,' whistleblower urges

Thank you Mr. Bobo! My rating is a 2 and I have a fire hydrant in my front yard and the fire department 3 miles away! I have full intentions on calling State Farm on Monday and the tax assessors next. Many homeowners need to look into this. With this economy and the insurance companies loaded in money, it is time this whole ordeal is reconciled!

• Locust Grove rolls past Drew

Just wanted to clarify that this team is the Wildcats not the lions. That is terrible to reference a team from a different school that many times in one article!!

• Grand jury indicts Clayton Sheriff's spokesperson

I agree with Steve. It seems like he is going out of his way to make sure she is comfortable in this. If any other deputy over here did something like that they would have been at least suspended, if you aint part of the click, they would be fired.

• Morrow residents raise questions about ‘Olde Towne'

I agree, Susan. The leadership was too trusting of their chosen manager as the citizens were of their elected officials. There are some great people in charge now and they have realized their past errors. We can't afford to lose them so let's give them our support.

• Henry launches major soccer complex

You are going to find that north Henry county will continue to be neglected as McDonugh and further south flourishes. It is very obvious what is happening, just drive around. What amazes me is that this will get passed but anything to help the school system gets shot down. If you look across the state, thriving school systems are the ones that are being financially supported. Cobb, Cherokee, Paulding, Lowndes City schools.

• Victims in high school beating suspended

The bottom line here is that for years these type of activities have gone covered up. Now that they are slightly leaked into the news, there is a huge frantic reaction. Please know that there are worst things than some small town group of punk kids running around saying they are in a gang. These are wanna be hood rats that pretend to be apart of the nonsense that they are allowed to watch on TV. Also, when the county groups the same type of people from school to school and they beginning to more, you will find that these type of issues are going to get worse. The schools in this county are not balanced. Look at Stockbridge HS and Woodland HS and they are only 2 miles apart. Look at Union Grove HS and Eagles Landing. I live in the zone for one of these schools and have students that attend 3 different schools. Each of these three students are of different economic brackets.

• Give soccer a chance - Brian Paglia's column

Thank you Mr. Paglia for shedding some light on the pitch! Soccer is often put very low on the priority list after football, soccer, wrestling, etc. If people stopped and took a look at overall records - they might pay attention a little more. In a sport that is as physical as football and just as (if not more) exciting - one would think it would catch the spotlight more. I know, one should be careful what they wish for - but when will these kids get their due? Booster clubs work very hard to support the teams and bring the crowd and having a very supportive Athletic Director that truly believes in the sport can make a tremendous difference. Thank you to all the sponsors, parents and coaches that stand our athletes! Our numbers are few - but we are determined and dedicated!!

• Residents oppose new McDonough apartments

Nail Rd. is already zoned for apartments and town homes less than 2000 feet from where this apartment complex is proposed and was done so in 2005 in accordance with the Land Use Map. There are signs on this Nail Rd. land showing it is bank-owned so of the developer wants to build apartments he should have bought this land instead of asking for zoning contradictory to the Land Use Map. The county officials spent literally years deciding on and putting that Land Use Map together all for what? So some developer could come in and thumb his nose at it? I don't think so. As the saying goes, "Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part".

• Anti-Defamation League, schools campaign against bullying

I have a child in both high school and middle school. We have instructed our middle school child to go to a teacher again tomorrow, but so far the teacher in the class where the problem keeps occurring has done nothing. There has been name calling, threats and, as of today, items thrown at my child DURING class! The teacher in that class has done nothing. We would like our child to go through proper channels, but I have had it! If this continues, we will be meeting with the teacher and the administration. A child should not be scared to go to school! The previous instruction of "ignore it" did not help anything. It just keeps escalating!

• Morrow residents raise questions about ‘Olde Towne'

As Col.Nathan R.Jessup said In A Few Good Men YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH

• Clayton Schools may ‘re-coup' Ed Jobs money

What about the income taxes we already paid on that money on our 2010 income tax return???

• Clayton Schools may ‘re-coup' Ed Jobs money

This is just one more example of the total ineptness of the superintendent and his leadership team. Dr. Heatley simply does not have the school experience needed to manage a school system, and he lacks the ability to see other people's sides to issues. He suffers from "tunnel vision." Does he not realize the impact that his decision to "re-coup funds" will have on an already plummeting school system morale? If only we could bring back some of the "old guard" who knew what they were doing in the management of the school system and its employees!

• Clayton Schools may ‘re-coup' Ed Jobs money

What a crock! The money was taken from the teachers to begin with and then given back which was a surprise. So "to save the arts" teachers now need to give it back? The arts need to be saved but don't make the teachers pay for it. They write books and movies about school systems that eleminate the "Arts." The CCBE is running off teaches as fast as they can with their policies. This just becomes one more reason NOT to teach in Clayton County. Thanks to the CCBE the county tax base has dwindled because no one wants their children in Clayton County Schools and are not buying houses here. This has caused home values to drop dramatically. The CCBE are their own worst enemy.
