The U.S. Air Force recently announced that Airman Marquis A. Delgado, a 2010 graduate of Mundy's Mill High School, has graduated from an eight-week basic military training course at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas.
The U.S. Army recently announced that Pvt. Niesha I. Portee, a 2008 graduate of Riverdale High School, has graduated from a nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Jonesboro resident, Naadia Portee.
The U.S. Army Reserve recently announced that Pvt. Brandi M. Gay, a 2008 graduate of Mundy's Mill High School, has graduated from a nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Sill, in Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of Riverdale resident, Lloyd Gay, and Lithonia resident, Rhonda Walton.
The U.S. Army recently announced that Pfc. Desiree W. Maxey, sister of Rex resident, Contressia Maxey, has graduated from a nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, S.C.
The Clayton County Library System has entered a national competition to win more than 1,600 "For Dummies" self-help instructional books. The library system that gets the most people to become fans of their special contest Facebook page by May 1 will win the prize, which library system officials estimate is worth more than $20,000. To participate in the contest, log onto www.claytonpl.org, and click on the "CCLS For Dummies" link, in the "upcoming events" sections of the main page. The Everett Music School is offering a Music After School Program for local children, at its new location at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Campus, at 230 Ga. Hwy. 138, Bldg. B, in Riverdale. Youths receive homework assistance, Criterion-Reference Competency Test (CRCT) preparation, math and reading enrichment, and lessons in piano, drums, singing and music theory.
