When area soccer teams return to action next week, there will only be eight days remaining in the regular season.
That stretch drive should make for some exciting contests in both boys and girls action.
Heading into the final games of the regular season, the Eagle's Landing Christian Academy girls are ranked eighth in the Class A poll. The Union Grove girls are ranked seventh in the Class AAAA poll.
The Lady Wolverines have enjoyed a sensational season, posting a 14-1 record overall and a 6-0 mark in the league. They have already finished their regular-season campaign.
Union Grove's only loss was a 2-1 decision to St Pius, the No. 1-ranked team in Class AAA. Since that loss, the Lady Wolverines have won seven games in a row. The last two were both 10-0 decisions against Locust Grove and Jones County.
Defensively, Union Grove has 11 shutouts on the season.
The Region 3-AAAA Tournament is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
Eagle's Landing Christian has posted an 8-4-1 record overall and a 3-3 mark in the league. The Lady Chargers suffered a 6-1 loss to Whitefield Academy in its last outing.
ELCA had been on a two-game winning streak, after impressive wins against Chattahoochee and Our Lady of Mercy.
The Lady Chargers will play Strong Rock at home Tuesday in a 5 p.m. kickoff. The Lady Patriots are in their first season of competition in GHSA action and are 6-3 overall and 4-3 in league play.
Next week's soccer action features several games between county and area rivalries.
Starting Monday, Ola travels to Locust Grove for a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Drew travels to Jonesboro for a doubleheader and the Forest Park boys entertain Mt. Zion.
Mt. Zion then plays at Luella in a doubleheader on Thursday.
On April 15, Mundy's Mill plays at Forest Park in a boys game.
The Region 3-AAAA tournament also continues next Friday.
