World Trade Center fragment coming to Clayton

A piece of the World Trade Center should arrive Monday for display at the Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Department in Riverdale.

Chief Jeff Hood said the 5-foot piece of twisted steel will be made part of a planned memorial for fallen firefighters.

"It is an honor and a privilege to have been chosen to receive this artifact," he said. "This piece of history will be placed in the lobby of our new regional training facility, as a memorial to the hundreds of dedicated public safety officials who selflessly paid the ultimate price."
