Some 75 student ambassadors from Union Grove Middle School are scheduled to assist in planting 2,300 pinwheels into the ground in downtown McDonough. The symbolic gesture is part of the annual "Pinwheels for Prevention" awareness event organized by Prevent Child Abuse Henry County (PCAHC), a non-profit chapter of Georgia Prevent Child Abuse. The number of pinwheels, up from the 2,239 planted last year, represents the number of child abuse cases reported to the Henry County Division of Family and Children Services, said PCAHC Program Coordinator Robin Jones. This year's event will be held Tuesday, April 19, from noon, until 1 p.m., on the McDonough Square. The public is invited. To learn more, visit www.preventchildabusehc.org.
