The Jonesboro congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites all members of the community to tour its newly-renovated temple at 6450 Barfield Road in Sandy Springs. Erected in 1982, the temple has been closed for two years, but will be open for public tours, now through April 23. Free tickets may be obtained at www.lds.org/reservations. Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City will be holding its annual combined barbecue and bake-yard-book sale Saturday, April 16. The event will last most of the day, beginning around 11 a.m. A donation of $6.50 is suggested for a plate of barbecue, brunswick stew, potato chips, cole slaw and tea. The United Methodist Men will be cooking. The United Methodist Women are in charge of the bake sale. The Honduras Mission Team members will be coordinating the yard sale, with proceeds to benefit the Honduras Mission Team's upcoming summer humanitarian trip. The Helping Hands ministry will put on the book sale. The church is at 5320 Phillips Drive in Lake City.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 377 Valley Hill Road, Riverdale, announces its Holy Week schedule, with combined worship services in English and Laotian. Palm Sunday services will be April 17 with Sunday school and Bible classes at 9:30 a.m., and Holy Communion and worship at 11 a.m. On Maunday Thursday, April 21, there will be Holy Communion and worship at 7:30 p.m. "The Last Seven Words of Christ" will be presented in a solemn worship service on Good Friday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 24, Christ's resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with worship and Holy Communion followed by an Easter covered-dish dinner at 12:30 p.m. An Easter egg hunt for small children will take place after the meal and there will be a celebration of the Lao New Year. Jodeco Road United Methodist Church is holding a "Journey to the Cross" walk-through learning experience on Good Friday, April 22, 6:30 p.m., to 8:00 p.m. This is a family-friendly walking tour through seven scenes portraying the final 24 hours of Jesus' life. Anvil Block United Methodist Church, 3895 Anvil Block Road, Ellenwood, will hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 23, 12-2 p.m., with games, prizes and hot dogs for lunch.

Forest Park First Baptist Church VIP ministries will meet Tuesday, April 26, at 10:45 a.m., in the church fellowship hall. Senior adults are invited to share fellowship, lunch and a special program of interest to senior citizens. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month with the exception of December. First Baptist Church Jonesboro will observe the National Day of Prayer in the west wing of its recreation outreach center at 148 Church St., Thursday, May 5, noon to 1 p.m. Advance tickets must be bought for a Chik-fil-A boxed lunch that includes a sandwich, chips and brownie. Lunch will be served 11-11:30 a.m., in the east wing. Tickets will be sold in the church office April 19-May 3.
