Ridley, Carolyn Stewart

Mrs. Carolyn Stewart Ridley, 83, of Locust Grove, passed away April 18, 2011. She was born in Riverdale, to the late Saint Paul and Mae Elizabeth Jones Stewart. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Roupe. Carol was of the first graduating class at College Park High School and attended business school in Atlanta. She retired after 31 years with General Motors, and was a member of Georgia Funseeker’s Motor Home Club and the General Motors Retiree Club. She and her husband had traveled to all 50 states, 49 of them in their motor home, and also to Canada. They traveled to seven countries in Europe, too. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and enjoyed birds, and gardening, and was an outstanding cook, having the title “1-800-Good-Cookin’.” Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Harold Ridley; sons, Steve (Cheryl) Skowronski, of Peachtree City, Mark Skowronski, of Sanford, N.C.; stepson, Harold Ridley, Jr., of Columbia, Tenn.; grandchildren, Greg, Kim and Lauren Skowronski, Richard (Casey) Chlebowski; great-grandchildren, Chase, Chloe and Kylie. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 23, at 3 p.m., from the Bethany Baptist Church. The Rev. Chuck Shepherd, and the Rev. J.W. Wallace, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may visit the family Friday, from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
