Weaver, Linda Diane Newman

Mrs. Linda Diane Newman Weaver, 57, of McDonough, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Atlanta Medical Center. She was born July 21, 1953, in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Mr. Howard Newman and the late Mrs. Frances Carlisle Newman. She is survived by her daughter, Angel Moody, of McDonough; brothers, Mike Newman, of Milner, and Tommy Newman, of Five Points, Ala.; two grandsons, Billy and Devin; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m., at Brown Memorial Baptist Church, 963 Howell Mill Road, N.W., Atlanta, Ga. 30318, with the Rev. Doug Rainwater officiating. In accordance to her wishes, the body was cremated. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Linda Weaver may be made to Atlanta Mission, My Sister's House, 921 Howell Mill Road N.W., Atlanta, Ga. 30318. Thurston, Lenton “Len” Royce

Lenton “Len” Royce Thurston, age 79, died in his home April 2, 2011. Formerly of Atlanta, Austell, and Lake Jackson, he moved to Winterville, Ga., in 2002 to be closer to his daughter. Len enjoyed traveling, fireworks, woodworking, and walking at the mall, but his great passion was baseball. A devoted fan since the Braves came to Atlanta, he followed each season closely and enjoyed many trips to Spring Training. A devoted father, uncle, and friend, he is survived by his daughter, Jerelyn Wallace; son-in-law, Daniel Wallace; grandsons, Samuel Thurston Wallace and Joseph Thurston Wallace; brother-in-law, Ronald Payne (Bullet); uncle, William Lockhart (Bill), and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m., at Haisten Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, with Dr. Ed Hoard officiating, followed by interment of his cremains in the Jackson City Cemetery.
