Tennis
Woodland girls' tennis cruised to a 4-1 victory at Houston County in the first round of the Class AAAA tournament Wednesday.
The third-seeded Lady Wolfpack got wins from No. 1 singles Kimberly Bowen (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 singles Krystal Bowen (6-0, 6-1), No. 3 singles Nicole Langford (6-0, 6-1) and the No. 1 doubles pair of Kristin Avery and Kelsey Wages (6-2, 7-5).
Woodland will play South Effingham, a 3-0 winner over Mundy's Mill, in the second round.
Baseball:
The Jonesboro Cardinals improved their record to 14-4 overall with a 9-6 victory against Morrow.
Brandon Jackson was the winnng pitcher for Cardinals.
Jonesboro takes on Creekside tonight at home in a 6 p.m. start.
Griffin 10, Dutchtown 3: The Dutchtown Bulldogs fell to Griffin 10-3 Wednesday night in Region 3-AAAA action.
Kellian Holiday, Sam Kim and Jeremy Arrington each had an RBI.
Mundy's Mill 9, Tri-Cities 5: Corey Harmon and Rodney Smith each had home runs a piece in the sixth-ranked Tigers Region 4-AAAA win. John Eilum was the winning pitcher after striking out four batters in five innings.
