Thomas Wayne Rowland Mr. Thomas Wayne Rowland, of Hampton, passed away April 24, 2011. Mr. Rowland was former Chief of Police of the City of Jonesboro. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1987, after 21 years service, serving during the Vietnam Era. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, with the Rev. James Phillips Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Mr. Rowland was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Virginia Rowland, Sr., and is survived by his wife, Brenda E. Rowland; daughters, Ginger Ankrom (Gene), of Jacksonville, Fla., Kelly McMahon (Patrick), of McDonough; son, Thomas W. Rowland, Jr. (Stephanie), of Atlanta; brother, Jack L. Rowland, Jr., of Orange Beach, Ala.; grandchildren, David Ankrom, Brittany Jordan, Ryan Ankrom, Matthew, Katelyn, Johnny and Travis McMahon, Nicole Ankrom, Stephanie Ankrom, Reece and Price Rowland; five nieces and seven nephews.
