From Staff Reports

The fourth annual Clayton-Henry All-Star Basketball Game will be hosted by Eagle's Landing High School on Sunday, May 15.

The girls' game begins the double-header at 4 p.m., while the boys' game will follow at 5:30 p.m. Tickets to the game are $5.

The game will feature the top senior girls' and boys' basketball players from the neighboring counties, some seeking the enjoyment of putting on their high school jersey one last time, others eager for the opportunity to catch the eye of college scouts.

"It's a good opportunity for the seniors to play one last time," said Eagle's Landing boys' basketball coach Clay Crump, the event's organizer.

Crump brought the event to Eagle's Landing last year after it was played at Clayton State University and hosted by an outside organization the previous two years. Crump said the event will be hosted by a Clayton County school next year, and host schools will alternate between the counties in subsequent years.

The event has often drawn the top talent in the Southern Crescent. Last season, Lovejoy shooting guard Cameron Solomon, the Clayton News Daily/Henry Daily Herald's Clayton County Player of the Year, led all scorers with 26 points in the boys' game.

But Crump said the event still has room to grow.

"It's not where where we want it to be, but it's getting there," Crump said. "I think when people realize it's every year, and what time of the year it'll be, it'll gain more attention."
