Here is a look how professional baseball players from the Southern Crescent are doing heading into their weekend series.

Major Leagues:

Jason Heyward (Atlanta Braves)--The Atlanta Braves slugger returns to Turner Field for a weekend series against St. Louis. During the recent road trip out west, Heyward's bat woke up. Heyward has raised his average to .256 with six home runs and 13 RBIs. He homered in his first at bat Friday night.

Kyle Davies (Kansas City Royals) -- The former Stockbridge High School star pitcher and Atlanta Brave is 1-3 this year with a .798 ERA. He has 23 strikeouts and 10 walks.

Japanese Baseball:

Matt Murton (Hanshin Tigers)-- Full stats are not always available from Japan, but former Eagle's Landing and Georgia Tech star Matt Murton, who plays for the Hanshin Tigers, is off to a solid April. Earlier this week Murton had a two-run homer. He is hitting in the lead-off spot for the Tigers

Minor leagues

Luke Murton (Yankees)--The former Eagle's Landing and Georgia Tech standout is in his second year of professional baseball. Murton plays for the New York Yankee's High Class A organzation in Tampa. He is batting .325 with 25 hits, two home runs and two RBIs in 21 games. He is the younger brother of Matt.

Scott Robinson (Rockies)--The former Henry County standout, who played high school ball with Jason Heyward, is playing for Modesto, the Rockies high Class A team. He is batting .277 with five RBIs.

Isaiah Fronberg (Rockies)--The former Forest Park standout has apppeared in two games for Tulsa. the Colorado's Class AA farm team. Fronberg has three strikeouts and no walks.

Jordan Akins (Rangers)--The former Union Grove athlete choose pro baseball over a college football scholarship to Central Florida. Akins plays for the Arizona rookie league and is hitting .107 in 37 games.
