The Lovejoy Wildcats golf team is on the verge of making history.
Monday both the boys and girls teams will travel to Columbus to participate in the GHSA Class AAAA Tournament.
"These kids have been a pleasure to coach and be around," said head coach Jim Lindsey. "They work really hard."
The girls' Class AAAA event will take place at the Columbus Country Club, while the boys will play their round at Maple Ridge.
Although each team can send up to six golfers, the Lovejoy boys will take four golfers to Columbus, and the girls two.
Seniors James Dinkens and Jonathan Luttery will close out their high school golf careers.
Cameron Everett and Julius Wilson are just sophomores.
On the girls side, Imani Scott and Brittany Simmons led the girls team into the state tournament.
Lovejoy won both the country and region titles this year.
"Our kids are good students and their parents have been very supportive," Lindsey said. "They are involved in so many different things.
Although they are not making the trip to the state tournament, Fradell Amerson and Tabare Durham played for the boys team. Khadiji Richardson played for the girls team.
