A Henry County family will battle for a championship on national television, when they appear on a popular game show.
Roger Brathwaite, of Stockbridge, and four members of his family will compete May 2, at noon, on "Family Feud," which will be televised from Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., on WPCH Channel 17.
Brathwaite, 55, is the president of Global Recruiters Atlanta East in Stockbridge. He will be joined, on the game show, by his wife, Karen, 54, a managing partner at the firm; son Rogelio, 34, an independent graphic artist; daughter Raina, 32, a production manager for Hubble, a South Carolina-based industrial electrical equipment company; and brother Orlando, 53, a transportation broker for Sun State Logistics in Orlando, Fla.
"Our son saw a promo for families to tryout for 'The Feud,' so I called and got us an audition," said Roger Brathwaite. "I'm a long-time trivia buff, and I know a lot of things, about a lot of things. I would say that is true for everyone in the family."
He said his wife and daughter are avid readers, and his son strives to remain current on modern culture. Orlando Brathwaite's strong suits, according to his brother, are sports and current events.
"Each person's individual knowledge did help us through the game," said Roger Brathwaite, who did not reveal results from the taped broadcast, citing a confidentiality agreement with "Family Feud."
The Brathwaite Family will face off against the Reyes family from Virginia Gardens, Fla.
Possible prizes for winners on the show include cash, and a new car.
"Family Feud" is hosted by actor, comedian, radio personality and author, Steve Harvey. The game show's publicist, Courtney Smith, said the Brathwaite family called the Family Feud hotline, earlier this year, to begin the process of becoming contestants.
"Families travel from all over the country to compete for a fantastic prize on the set of 'Family Feud,' and have a great bonding experience while they're at it," said Smith.
"When the show is over, fans can connect for breaking news on Twitter, find outtakes and behind the scenes footage on YouTube, or face-off against friends and family on Facebook."
