When Mundy's Mill coach Patrick Smith coached at Stephenson High, he considered Redan's coach Marvin Pruitt to be his mentor. Smith replaced Pruitt at Stephenson, where he started the baseball program from scratch.

Owen, Joseph Todd
Mr. Joseph Todd Owen, 46, of Locust Grove, passed away April 8, 2011. Todd was born in Fulton County. He was self-employed as a general contractor. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his dogs, Sammy and Duke. He was known to his family for his love and dependability, sense of humor, cooking for his family, enjoying the beach, music and cars. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. Survivors are his wife of 28 years, Michelle Owen, also of Locust Grove; children, Seth Owen (Bethany), of McDonough, Hannah Owen (Michael Allen), of Locust Grove, Gracie Owen, of Locust Grove, and Kelley Marie Sierra (Jonathan), of Chatsworth, Ga.; granddaughter, Haylei Amelia Allen; mother, Claudette Owen, of Locust Grove; brother, Lloyd Owen (Jamie), of Richmond Hill, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, William Joe Owen. Funeral services will be held TODAY (Tuesday, April 12), at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating.
