Goodman, Dale Henry

Dale Henry Goodman Dale Henry Goodman, 73, of Jonesboro, formerly of Forest Park, and Greenback, Tenn., died of cancer on April 9, 2011. He was retired and had worked for MacLean, Carolina and ABF motorfreight companies. He volunteered in little league sports at the Forest Park Recreation Center, an activity he enjoyed for several years. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, who loved the outdoors and the Sunny South Hunting Club. He had great love for his family and friends, taking special delight in his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Sandra; son, the Rev. Terry Goodman and wife, Debbie, of Bluefield, Va.; son, Patrick, of Jonesboro; sister, Vivian Cobb, of Locust Grove; brother, Larry and wife, Almedia, of Loudon, Tenn.; grandchildren, David, Jacob, Andrew and Daniel Goodman, of Virfinia, Megan Goodman, of Jonesboro; and two special "honorary" grandchildren, Jonah Smith and Franky Holcomb, of Jonesboro; uncle, Ken Spires, of Greenback, Tenn.; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Stella Spires Goodman Rider, and his son, David Phillip Goodman. A memorial service is planned for April 16 at 2 p.m., in the sanctuary of New Hope UMC, 1014 New Hope Drive, Hampton (corner of Panhandle Road and New Hope Drive), with visitation following the service in the church fellowship hall. The family requests no flowers, as interment will be at a later date.

Cook, Edward Dwayne

Our beloved husband, father and brother, Edward “Eddie” Dwayne Cook, was called home Saturday, April 9, 2011. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Jackson, at the age of 59. Eddie was born March 15, 1952 in Atlanta. He was a golden gloved boxer in his youth and attended Lakewood Heights Elementary along with Fulton High School in Atlanta. He went on to become a well respected and sought after carpenter whose attention to detail was second to none. Eddie married Barbara Ann Bryant on Dec. 31, 1969 and spent the next 42 years of his life as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Robert “Bobby” Cook, Leeann Cook and James “Jimmy” Cook of Jackson; and grandchildren, Jowel Swinney and Jason Swinney; siblings, Robert “Randy” (Desiree) Cook, Marsha Cook, Patricia Cook Kolesar (Ralph); nephews and nieces, Troy Cook, Bryan Mobley, Jessica (Jason) Lauth, Travis (Lacey) Castillo, Rachel Scott, Evon Kolesar and Ryder Kolesar; great-nephews and nieces, Dalton Lauth, Rayln Thomas, Karlie Lauth and Madilyn Castillo. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert “Bob” Cook on Sept. 16, 1979, and Ann Jean Cook on June 12, 2009. He loved hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. He had a deep passion for music and loved playing his guitars. He will be most remembered for his infectious smile and his laid back nature. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A quiet memorial service will be held at the Cook residence on Jackson Lake.
