North Clayton High senior Mariah Stackhouse is tied for second at the Junior PGA Championship in Indiana.
The Riverdale native shot a 3-under-par 69 in the first round at the Sycamore Hill Golf Club in Fort Wayne to finish tied with Ariya Jutanugam of Thailand.
They are one stroke behind leader Casey Danielson of Wisconsin at the four-day tournament, which ends Friday.
Earlier this summer, Stackhouse qualified for the U.S. Open in Colorado.
Although classes are scheduled to start Monday in Clayton County, Stackhouse is expected to play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship next week in Rhode Island.
Stackhouse has verbally committed to sign at Stanford.
