A College Park apartment resident fired at two burglars early Tuesday morning, wounding one, said Clayton County police.
Sgt. Otis Willis said police are looking for the wounded man's accomplice.
Willis said the two men forced their way into an apartment at the Stonebrook complex on Norman Drive about 3:30 a.m. As they began to gather items, they were confronted by the resident, he said. The resident fired on them, hitting one in the abdomen and buttocks.
Both men fled the scene. The wounded man collapsed about a block away at North Clayton High School, said Willis. A passerby called 911 and the man was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. Willis said the man was listed in stable condition.
The second man escaped.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Willis said no one had been charged in the incident. He said he had no identifying information on either suspect because of the ongoing investigation.
Willis cautioned residents to be wary of suspicious behavior or people loitering late at night or early in the morning.
"If you see anything suspicious, call 911," he said. "Something like this can take place anywhere."
