The McDonough Police Department is working to identify a decomposed body found Wednesday, in a wooded area behind the Walden Run apartments.
Police were called to 100 Walden Run Place, at 8:54 a.m. The body was located behind the 600 building of the McDonough apartment complex, according to Det. R. Gardner. The detective said there is some evidence which suggests the person may have been sleeping in the wooded area.
"The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition," said Henry County Deputy Coroner Elaine Starr. "We believe it to be a 50-year-old white male, who was reportedly last seen on July 24. We are attempting at this time to make a positive identification."
The unidentified male was transported to the Dekalb Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, added Starr.
