Betty Earl Parsons Harper, of Jackson, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 in Monticello. She was born Sept. 13, 1924 in Phenix City, Ala., to the late Tom and Warnie Patrick Parsons. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her Lord above everything. She loved her grandchildren and her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed gardening, carving, embroidery, and traveling. Betty is survived by her husband, Henry Harper, of Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Kenneth Thurston, of Flovilla, Patsy and Paul James, of Forsyth; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Mary Anne Harper, of Midway, David and Kathy Harper, of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Harper; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Francis Parsons; sisters-in-law, Nell Parsons and Ruth Parsons, all of Phenix City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Andy Harper and Joshua Thurston, two sisters and five brothers. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, at Flovilla City Cemetery with the Rev. John Sherrell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Abby Hospice at The Retreat, 898 College Street, Monticello, Ga., 31064 in memory of Mrs. Harper.
