Henry County police are now searching for the killer of a woman found dead in the upscale Crystal Lake Country Club subdivision, in Hampton.
Detective Mike Ireland said it is believed the woman was in her '40s.
"Henry County's 911 center received a call from On-Star indicating the On-Star button was pushed, and the signal was coming from a vehicle," said Sgt. Ireland.
Thursday, at approximately 12:52 p.m., officers responded to 341 Masters Club Blvd., inside the gated Crystal Lake Country Club subdivision. Once at the home, police said a 3-year-old girl was found inside of a red Hummer parked inside a garage, where the door was open.
When police officers entered the Hampton home, "they discovered the body of a female believed to be in her forties," Ireland said.
Friday, an autopsy was conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The agency determined the death was a homicide, Ireland added.
The police department was working Thursday to notify relatives of the woman concerning her death, before releasing her name, said Ireland. Police investigators are continuing to develop leads, he added.
The cause of death was not immediately released because "the investigation is ongoing," the investigator said.
