Saturday

The Clayton Center will host a free “Community Fun Day” on Saturday Aug. 20, from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., at Paula Crane Life Enrichment Center, located at 1792 Mount Zion Road, in Morrow. Organizers are asking community members to come out and meet with job coaches and managers. The event is open to all ages. For more information call (770) 960-2009.

Monday

The Clayton County Board of Education will hold its scheduled work session, meeting on Monday Aug. 22, at 6 p.m., at the Clayton County Public Schools Administrative Complex, located at 1058 Fifth Avenue, in Jonesboro.

The Clayton State University Alumni Association will sponsor a back to school "Monday Mixer" at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 22, at the Skyboxx Restaurant and Bar, located at 2180 Mt. Zion Pkwy., in Morrow.

Air Force Reserve Airman Ashley E. Skinner graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. Skinner is a 2007 graduate of Mundy’s Mill High School, and is the daughter of Teresa Skinner of, Riverdale.

The Clayton State University Foundation’s Annual Town & Gown Golf Tournament, will be held on Monday, Sept. 19, at Eagle’s Landing Golf & Country Club in Stockbridge. Registration is underway for both golfers and sponsors. Teams can register for $500, or individuals can register for $150 and be placed with a team the day of the event. Sponsorships are available on six different levels, including; Event Sponsor ($5,000), Co-Tournament Sponsor ($2,500), Laker Sponsor ($1,000), Player Gift Sponsor ($1,000), Food Sponsor ($200), and Hole Sponsor ($150 per hole). The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English, or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams.
