Fall Break for the Henry County School System is fast approaching, and the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Fall Break Camp.
The camp will coincide with the school system's mid-term break, from Sept. 12 through Sept. 16, according to Henry County Communications Director Julie Hoover-Ernst.
Hoover-Ernst said camps are planned to be held at Heritage Park in McDonough, the Locust Grove Recreation Center in Locust Grove, the J. P. Moseley Recreation Center in Stockbridge, the Fairview Recreation Center in Stockbridge, and Nash Farm Park in Hampton.
"We look forward to seeing everybody," said Tina Fuss, the department's camp coordinator and recreation specialist. "It's a good experience. It opens all kinds of doors for the kids to make friends.
Fuss anticipates as many as 120 youth will take part in the Fall Break Camp.
"It's one of our better camps," Fuss said. "It's a great time, and the kids are safe."
At camp, young people will be able to play games and participate in activities, arts and crafts, and exciting field trips. Fuss said the combined camps will be able to go bowling at Fun Bowl of Henry County, in McDonough, and skating at Starlite Skating Center in Stockbridge.
Camp hours are from 7:30 a.m., until 6 p.m., she added. The cost for the camp is $100 per child, ages 6, to 12. Five-year-olds who are in Kindergarten may also register for camp.
Registration begins Monday, Aug. 22, and will continue through Friday, Sept. 9. Fuss noted that parents will be able to register between 8 a.m., and 4 p.m., at Heritage Park, 99 Lake Dow Road in McDonough.
Fuss said parents may also visit any of the recreation centers previously mentioned. To learn more, call (770) 288-7300, or visit the department's web site at www.hcprd.org.
