The U.S. Army recently announced that Army Pvt. Crystal Galvan, a 2010 graduate of North Clayton High School, has graduated from a nine-week basic military training course at Fort Sills, in Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of Riverdale resident, Rosenda Galvan.

Several teens from Clayton County recently graduated from The Clay National Guard Youth Challenge Program in Marietta, Ga. They are: Sean Stanley, Willie Johnson, Devin Walton and Devon Walton, all of Riverdale; Richard Zuniga and Sierra Moss, both of Forest Park; Alexander Rojas and Shaquille Hunte, both of Jonesboro; Ashaunte Bennett, of College Park; D'Honess Rozier, of Morrow; and Kevin Meeks, of Rex. They were among the 215 YCA cadets of the Class of 2011 to complete the program.

Clayton County Public Schools will offer free breakfasts and lunches for children between the ages of 4 and 18, Monday through Friday, from June 6, to July 1, at Lake Ridge Elementary School, located at 7900 Lake Ridge Circle, in Riverdale. Meals will be offered to people over the age of 18, at a cost of $1.50 for breakfast, and $2.50 for lunch. The meals are being offered as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's "Seamless Summer Meals" program. Call (678) 479-0171, for more information.

The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English, or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams.
