Mrs. Ruth Whitaker Crumbley, 93, of McDonough, passed away Aug. 25, 2011. Ruth was born in McDonough to the late Sam and Julia Mae Sowell Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Crumbley; sisters, Eppie Whitaker and Olive Austin; brother-in-law, Sam B. Austin; nephew, Sammy Austin. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and had worked along with her husband at Crumbley Meat Processing.
Ruth enjoyed traveling, camping, taking rides through the countryside, was an avid reader, and a loving caretaker for her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include niece and nephews, Annette Pruett, Donald, Larry and Jimmy Austin, and numerous other nieces and nephews on the Crumbley side of the family.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Jody Shaw will officiate. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service.
