A Riverdale teenager, who is also charged in the shooting death of a Clayton County sheriff's deputy, pleaded no contest, Monday, to unrelated misdemeanor charges.
Veasna Johnathan Bun, 17, was sentenced to two years in jail after pleading no contest to possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and criminal trespass, according to Clayton County State Court records. A loitering violation was merged with the criminal trespass charge.
Bun was cited May 15.
Clayton County police said Bun shot and killed Deputy Rick Daly during a July 20 traffic stop. At the time of the shooting, the county’s fugitive squad was trying to serve felony warrants on Bun, because he was wanted in connection with an armed robbery in January.
Bun is being held without bond in the Henry County Jail on murder and other felony charges related to Daly's death. None of the felony cases has been indicted at this time.
Daly is the first officer, countywide, to die by gunfire in the line of duty, in Clayton.
