Sgt. G. E. Ratterree (Ret.)

Sgt. G. E. Ratterree (Ret.), of Jonesboro, passed away Aug. 28, 2011, at the age of 63.

Funeral services will be held TODAY (Tuesday, Aug. 30), at 11 a.m., at the chapel of Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery.

Sgt. Ratterree, also known as "Fat Rat," retired from the Lake City Police Department after having served in Jonesboro, Forest Park and Stockbridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Zachary, and is survived by his daughters, Barbara Ratterree, of Jonesboro, Shelby Lyn Ratterree, of Forest Park; sons, Ralph Emmitt Ratterree, of Riverdale, Andrew Michael Ratterree, of Jackson, Lawrence Edward Ratterree, of Hampton; brother, William Jerry Ratterree, of Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

I am sorry to hear about this. As a retired law enforcement from Ga and my 1st police department was Morrow, I remember him to be a good honest person and a good law enforcement officer. May the good Lord give comfort in this time but remember you will be with him again. Billy Howard, Alabama
