A Riverdale man faces charges after police said he shoved a pregnant woman during an early morning scuffle.
Riverdale police arrested Davonte Lamar Cocroft, 18, and charged him with assault on an unborn child, simple battery, disorderly conduct and shoplifting. He is being held in the Clayton County Jail on a $1,500 bond on the disorderly conduct charge, but has no bond on the other charges, according to court records. Magistrate Court warrants allege that Cocroft shoved a woman, who is seven-eight months pregnant into a wall. When police responded to the call, Cocroft allegedly shouted vulgarities at them. Cocroft is on probation from an Aug. 2 arrest for criminal trespass, according to Clayton County State Court records. He pleaded no contest to the charge Aug. 10. Judge Morris Braswell sentenced Cocroft to 12 months, with 90 days to serve. The balance of the sentence was to be suspended upon payment of a fine.More like this story
