This year, let us remember that on December 25th, we are celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ, the Lord. All Christians should recognize this is the date our Christian forefathers set aside as Christs birthday and we are to honor Him on this day in particular.
We are the family of God; He sent His Son to earth to save all mankind from sin and death, to give His very life for us that we may have forgiveness of our sins and eternal life in heaven with Him (John 3:16).
He came to live among us and to teach us how to live a life that is pleasing and acceptable to God. He set the example of how we should live our lives; He showed us grace and mercy; He made the blind to see, the lame to walk. He came as the perfect Lamb of God, without sin and worthy to be an acceptable sacrifice to pay for our sins and to establish the way for all mankind to find forgiveness for our sins and have eternal life.
The whole Bible is all about Christ; particularly the New Testament, which gives us clear details and examples of how to be saved from hell and saved to heaven. Jesus is God, revealed to us! Emanuel God with us! John 1:1and 4 read: In the beginning was the Word [Jesus] and the Word was with God and the Word was God ... And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, [and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,] full of grace and truth.
This is Johns eye-witness truth of the birth and life of Jesus Christ. How could we not remember Jesus on His birthday?
And yet, many celebrate Christmas as a time for Santa Claus and many presents and parties and Christmas trees and lights, etc. They give the real reason for Christmas only slight, or no, mention. The man-made customs are the most important and get great attention, but we give our Savior and Lord only slight mention.
Shame on us! We need to get our priorities in order. Its fine to celebrate Christmas in the traditional way, but many get much too elaborate on the Santa side, and too little on Christs Birthday.
What can we do? Put Christ back in Christmas! Realize that Jesus is the reason for the season! And be sure to say a special prayer to Him, telling Him we love Him and have a great faith in Him. Thank Him for paying the price for our sins.
Either, go to your churchs Vesper service on Christmas Eve, or find a church that has a service where you can worship the Lord. I hope those in my family, who are with us on this Christmas Day, will go with us. There will be an opportunity to observe the Lords Supper, which He told us we should do in remembrance of Him.
Im sure its an acceptable and important thing for us, who love Him, to do, especially on His Birthday.
If you have family members who do not know Jesus as Savior and Lord, its a good time of the year to talk to them about becoming a Christian. In fact, we should try to ensure that all of our family members and friends believe in Christ and commit themselves to him.
I pray we all will have both the opportunity and courage to witness to as many as we can, of the love and sacrifice of Christ for all. Wouldnt that be a wonderful birthday present for Jesus?
Merry Christmas to all and Happy Birthday, Jesus!?
