County names top teams from trash pick-up day

The top two trash collecting teams in Clayton County’s recent –– and first-ever –– Pick Up Paper (PUP) Day, gathered a combined total of 71 bags of trash, county officials recently announced.

Approximately 30 teams of people from across the county helped pick up trash in their communities during the PUP Day, which was held Nov. 19, according to figures provided by the county.

But, it was the Kinship Care Program’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren group, and residents of the Normandy Subdivision, in College Park, who came out on top of the “most bags of trash collected” list.

Kinship Care collected 41 bags of trash, more than any other group. Residents of the Normandy Subdivision finished second, with 30 bags of trash collected.

The Clayton County Board of Commissioners recognized both groups during its Dec. 5, business meeting, and presented gift bags filled with items donated from county businesses to members of each group.
