Franklin Francis Younger, age 95, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, Md., Oct. 19, 1915, son of the late Franklin and Sophie Webbkin Younger. He was husband of the late Mary Veronica Kirchenbauer Younger for 60 years before her death in 2001. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a salesman for the Revere Copper and Brass Company in Baltimore before his retirement. Mr. Younger was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a member of the Knight Commander Court of Honor. He enjoyed assisting with fund-raising for the Scottish Rite Hospitals and with the Tech-Georgia freshman game. He greatly enjoyed boating. Survivors include his loving companion, Bootsie Dennard; daughter and son-in-law, Ronne and David Shaw; grandchildren, Kathie and Jay Haygood, Michael and Sherron Shaw; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Shaw, Ben, Erik, Jacob and Leah Haygood. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Shaw. A celebration of his life was held Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. Mark Powell and Michael Shaw officiated. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
