Clayton News Daily
Although no senior made the annual Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North-South All-Star game, the Southern Crescent will be well represented in the junior game this season.
Four juniors from the area will participate in the second junior game on March 26 at Armstrong Atlantic State in Savannah. Players from the area are Justin Tuoyo of Lovejoy, North Clayton's Marcus Hunt and Charles Mann of Union Grove for the boys team while Forest Park's Ashlee Cole was the lone girls selections. All four, who are considered top college prospects for next season, will play for the South squad. The 6-foot-9 Tuoyo has been a defensive stalwart for the fifth-ranked Wildcats, who enter next week's Region 4-AAAA tournament as the top seed. He had 12.6 points, 4.1assist, 11.8 rebounds and 7.5 blocked shot per game. Hunt, who has scored at least 30 points in a game five times this season, is a strong candidate for region player of the year honors. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward is averaging 24.8 points for the Eagles on 47 percent field goal shooting. Mann, a 6-foot-4 forward, is averaging 21.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.2 assist, 1.8 steals per game for the Wolverines. Cole was the only female from the area to make the all-star team. It is the second straight year that a Forest Park player has been named to the junior game. Last season, Keyonna Allen played in the inaugural junior game, which was held at Savannah State University. The 5-foot-8 Cole has already gone over the 1,000-point mark for her career and was an all-state player last season. This season, she is averaging 14.5 points on 50 percent shooting from the field for the fifth-ranked Panthers, the Region 4-AAAA top seed for next week's region tournament.
