The Clayton State women's basketball team is ranked No.-1 in the new NCAA Division II poll.
Clayton State earned its honor after starting the season with a 24-0 record.
The Lakers secured the No-1-ranking with an 83-81 victory over previously No.-1-ranked Lander last Thursday.
Before Tuesday's poll was released, Clayton State had been ranked No. 2 in the country for several weeks
It's the first time Clayton State has ever been ranked No. 1 in any sport.
Tonight, Clayton State puts its No.-1-ranking on the line when it travels to Columbus State for a Peach Belt Conference game. The Lakers then close out their regular season with a game at home against Montevallo (February 19), at North Georgia (February 23) and at Georgia Southwestern (February 26).
