Clayton County Commissioner Sonna Singleton will host a workshop, this week, at Mundy's Mill High School, in Jonesboro, to address issues of bullying among youth in the county.
The workshop will take place on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 6:30 p.m., in the school's commons area.
Mundy's Mill High School is located at 9652 Fayetteville Road, in Jonesboro.
The event will feature speaker, Dr. James Winfrey, Psychologist and Chief Executive Officer of The Bridges Center.
The Bridges Center is a for-profit, community counseling organization, which offers group, psychological and psychiatric evaluation, and nursing services in Atlanta, according to a statement issued by The Bridges Center.
The center provides services in areas which include gang and bully intervention and prevention, and self-defense for victims of bullying activity, the statement added.
During Thursday's workshop at Mundy's Mill High School, Dr. Winfrey will talk to parents about bullying, and will offer solutions, for bullying, according to Commissioner Singleton.
She added that questions such as "What parents need to know about bullying? Is your child being bullied? And is your child bullying?" will be addressed in the workshop.
Singleton said she urges parents to participate in the workshop, because a discussion about bullying is needed for the community.
