Friday-Monday
Clayton County Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Feb. 18, and on Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of the school system's winter break and President's Day, according to the district's web site. The school system is scheduled to re-open on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Saturday
The Morrow Branch of the Clayton County Library System will host a "Financial Education Class," on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m., to noon, at the library branch, at 6225 Maddox Road, in Morrow. Later in the day, from 3:30 p.m., to 4:30 p.m., the branch will host a "Black History Month Craft" event for children. Call (404) 366-7749.

The U.S. Air Force recently announced that Airman Kyle M. Ragan, the son of Jonesboro resident, Jenifer Ragan, has graduated from an eight-week basic military training course, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During his training, Airman Ragan studied military discipline, the Air Force's core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English, or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams. The Everett Music School is offering a Music After School Program for local children, at its new location at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Campus, at 230 Ga. Hwy. 138, Bldg. B, in Riverdale. Youths receive homework assistance, Criterion-Reference Competency Test (CRCT) preparation, math and reading enrichment, and lessons in piano, drums, singing and music theory.
