Clayton County Public Schools will hold its second annual "College Fair and Step Show" on Saturday, Feb. 26, beginning at 10 a.m., at Charles R. Drew High School, at 6237 Garden Walk Blvd., in Riverdale. The College Fair will last from 10 a.m., until noon, and the step show will begin at noon. Admission is $5. Clayton County Public Schools is registering students between now and March 8 for the Elite Scholars Academy Charter School's "Random Selection Process." The registration is for students who will be in the sixth-, seventh-, eighth-, ninth- and tenth-grades during the 2011-2012 school year. To register, log onto www.clayton.k12.ga.us/.
The U.S. Navy recently announced that Seaman Recruit Ma'Risa L. Pinkston, the daughter of Rex residents, Sherlnell Pinkston and Verdale R. Claxton, recently completed an eight-week basic training program at the Navy's Recruit Training Command, in Great Lakes, Ill. During her training, Seaman Recruit Pinkston studied naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.

The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English, or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams. The Everett Music School is offering a Music After School Program for local children, at its new location at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Campus, at 230 Ga. Hwy. 138, Bldg. B, in Riverdale. Youths receive homework assistance, Criterion-Reference Competency Test (CRCT) preparation, math and reading enrichment, and lessons in piano, drums, singing and music theory.
