Passed Away: 2011-02-23 Funeral Home: Randall Lamonte Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Liberty Regional Medical Center, after a long illness. He was born March 28, 1939, in Hapeville, to the late Randall Lewis and Sarah Massey Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served a portion of his tenure aboard the USS Shangri-La. He also served as a deputy sheriff in Henry County. Randy was an aviation enthusiast, who held a private pilot’s license, and also derived great enjoyment from building, and flying, model airplanes. He is survived by his wife, Vaneta Ynez Smith; children and their spouses, Cindy and Bernard Gallof, Darleyne and Tony Sims, Randy and Patti Abbott, Greg and Teresa Latham, Alicia and Jim Floyd, and Marcia and Don Austero; grandchildren, Brooke and Bryce Gallof, Brittany and Hannah Sims, Amanda, Alana and Blakely Abbott, Reese Latham, Meghann, Ross and Evanne Floyd, and Ben, Jessie and Lillian Austero. Graveside services, with Masonic Rites, will be held on Friday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m., in the Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Loskoski will officiate.More like this story
