A 15-year-old boy, who is accused of killing a 16-year-old girl reported to be his girlfriend, appeared in Clayton County Magistrate Court for a first appearance hearing, on Thursday.

Kevin Kosturi, of Ellenwood, faced presiding Clayton County Magistrate Judge Richard Brown, as he was notified of his charges.

Kosturi is charged with murder, tampering with evidence, possession of a pistol or revolver by a person under the age of 18 years, and false statements and writtings, according to a Clayton County warrant application affidavit.

Judge Brown denied the teen's bond in court, on Thursday. Information regarding Kosturi's attorney was not available in online court records.

According to the warrant application affidavit, Kosturi "did take the life of Angel Freeman [16 years old] by placing a handgun up to her chest, and shooting her after she told him, "You won't shoot me."

The incident occurred in a wooded area near a home on Dunn Road, in Ellenwood, said police.

"She was lying on the ground, just outside of a small wooden building," the warrant affidavit said. "The accused then admitted that he had obtained the gun from a neighbor on 2/20/11, so that he could defend himself against another teenage male that had been threatening him."

Robert Allen Bethune, 21, is accused of giving Kosturi the weapon, according to Clayton County Police public information officer, Sgt. Otis Willis.

He is charged with furnishing or permitting a minor to possess a pistol, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Willis.

Kevin Kosturi is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, March 8, at 3 p.m.
