Funeral Home: Haisten Funeral Home of Jackson
Betty Jane Leatherman Delauter, age 84, of Jackson, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011. She was born in Frederick County, Md., Aug. 14, 1926, daughter of the late Edgar and Edna Brandenburg Leatherman. She was wife of the late Kenneth Lee Delauter who died in February 1984. Mrs. Jane was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson. She enjoyed sewing, gardening both vegetables and flowers, cooking and working in her yard. She dearly loved being Mammaw to many children that she looked after. Survivors include her children, Carol Ann and Linwood Schroyer, Sharon and Terry Duffey, and Lois Delauter; grandchildren, Lori and J. B. Wells, Traci and Bob Hanser, Nathan Duffey and Joshua Duffey; great-grandchildren, CoraLynn Wells, Cameron Wells, Madryn Hanser, Jackson Hanser and Mollie Hanser; sisters, Marilyn Gaver, Joyce Harshman, Ester Holshouser and a brother, William Leatherman; sister-in-law, Gladys Hahn. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Dr. Joe Bufford officiated. Entombment was in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in the Jackson City Cemetery. Friends visited the family at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m., and at other times at the residence of Sharon and Terry Duffey, 103 Bob White Run in Jackson. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1227 West Third St., Jackson, Ga., 30233.
