Mundy's Mill's girls basketball team won their first state playoff game in school history with a convincing 82-48 victory at South Effingham in the first round of the Class AAAA tournament Friday.
Mundy's Mill had reached the state playoffs five times before, including the past four seasons, but never advanced past the first round until Friday.
The Lady Tigers (21-6) play the winner of Fayette County/Northside-Warner Robins on Tuesday.
Every Mundy's Mill player scored, and Brianna McQueen led the way with 21 points. Moneshia Dyer scored 16 points, Anikee Combee had 12 points, Taylor Britt and Carniece Pugh each scored eight points while Cydnie Armstead added seven points.
Hillgrove girls 73,
Britney Guy's 31 points wasn't enough for the Lady Lions in their 73-50 loss at Hillgrove in the first round of the Class AAAAA tournament Friday.
Amber Griffin was the only other scorer in double figures for Luella (11-14) with 11 points.
Warner Robin girls 65,
The Lady Wolfpack's first trip to the state tournament in school history didn't last long with a 65-39 loss at Warner Robins in the Class AAAA first round Friday.
Woodland, the No. 4 seed from Region 3-AAAA, ends its season with a 19-9 record.
Down by just three at halftime, the Lady Wolfpack were overwhelmed by Warner Robins' 30-point outburst in the third quarter.
Jasmine Strozier led the Lady Wolfpack (19-9) with 15 points. Morgan Jones scored 13 points.
Rutland girls 59,
Eagle's Landing 46
The Lady Golden Eagles lost 59-46 at Rutland in the first round of the Class AAA tournament Friday.
Eagle's Landing, the No. 4 seed from Region 4, ends its season with a 15-12 record.
